גלריות מוסררה, בית ספר מוסררה לאמנות וחברה ירושלים
Musrara’s three galleries join forces with the Jerusalem Print Workshop gallery in a group of exhibitions that take place along the geographical axis that stretches between Musrara and HaNeviim Street – the northern golden path of the demographic and multicultural seam line in Jerusalem. Opening as part of Musrara Mix 19, the exhibitions feature Israeli and international artists in collaboration with the collective photography gallery FOTOGALERIE WIEN. The exhibitions explore the central theme of Musrara Mix festival, which this year looks at the notion of displacement – dislocation, shift, mobility and migration, through a plethora of discourse and research disciplines. Human and natural systems are constantly shifting in the wake of survival and struggle processes, biological, physical, or mental processes, and developmental processes of transformation, reproduction, and liberation. Subjects and objects are shaped by an ongoing voluntary and involuntary movement, where sequences are created and interrupted, and consequently images, artistic actions, and meanings are continuously repositioned. The festival will focus on conversion and nomadism, expropriation and deterritorialization, disassembly and reconstruction – concepts and thought patterns that play a key role in contemporary artistic discourse, the media, science, philosophy, and psychoanalysis. The artists will bring their creative processes into the exhibition venues, spilling into the streets, courtyards and trails throughout Musrara neighborhood, with the aim of creating new possibilities for addressing and discussing the meanings of these notions and the critical and poetic understanding of their role in our lives. Curators: Avi Sabag and Vera Korman displacement
